Short Story
I believe that God spoke to me this past week. Most of the nation is under extreme cold weather advisory, right now. My heart goes out to all that are effected by the storms. We were almost caught up in the worst of it ourselves.
If the water line running to the upstairs toilet had waited another day, we could be without water until this freeze passes over. Instead, it broke coincidentally the day before; when the sky was clear and the weather was above 40 degrees.
Another blessing is recognizing the wisdom that the wife and I have gathered and put into use at 3-4am in the morning. I woke up thinking my wife was in the shower at 3am and mumbled something to myself that, “that’s weird.” My wife heard me and said, “I’m not in the shower.”
Instead of us yelling and cussing, we both sprung into action. It took both of us a couple of minutes to gather our wits, but I went to turn off the water at the street and my partner started grabbing towels and throwing them on the floor. The downstairs Kitchen with tile floor took the brunt of the waterfall (what woke us up.) The water leaked from the kitchen light fixtures and through the ceiling. (The upstairs bathroom is exactly above the kitchen.) ย The waterfall was contained rather quickly and the dining room wood floor didnโt get wet. I believe the toilet water line sprung a significant leak that evening and took 2-3 hours to pool on the bathroom floor and down into the kitchen ceiling. We awoke when it found ceiling hole through a light fixture.
Give Thanks
I thank God for all the coincidences that allowed us to show quick wits and problem solving the day before the real storm came in. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Reflection
Am I just personifying a whole bunch of random occurrences together? Yes, and I am counting my blessings b/c it allows me to feel peace.
Am I hearing God as a voice in my head? No, I only hear my own inner dialog. It allows me to reflect and try to put love at the center of my beliefs.
